Featured Designer: Melissa Lane

It's time to reveal our next Featured Designer!  This time, we're welcoming Melissa from honeybeelane on board for the next four weeks!  You'll love her design style!  It's totally wow-worthy!

Hi! I’m Melissa Dawn Lane, Jesus follower. I’m incredibly honored and excited to be here as CASology’s July Featured Designer! I'm a military wife of 22 years to my best friend, Chris. My husband & I are from Lincoln, Maine in the U.S.A.. We were high school sweethearts and have 4 children whom we homeschool. My parents are talented artists/crafters who love gardening and the beauty of creation. So, I grew up surrounded by a wonderful variety of Arts & Crafts and a great appreciation for nature. Since 1995, my husband and I have lived in 10 different ‘permanent’ duty stations. I've enjoyed gardening, photographing, cooking and making many houses into homes during that time. Around 2010 my friend, Kelly, introduced me to blogging and then in 2012, my friend, Cindy, introduced me to card-making. I’m so glad they did! They both opened doors into a new creative world that has enriched my life. I love creating. Whether it is a super CAS 1-layer card, or something messy and mixed media, I enjoy it all. I’d be very happy if you would come and visit me on my blog.

Week 205: CHEVRON

It's time for a new cue word & it happens to be a stylish one this week!

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:

  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

Cindy B Designs is returning as our sponsor and this week's winner will receive a $25 PayPal gift certificate!

Let's take a look at what the design team and this week's guest designer created for inspiration!

Guest Designer:  Kevin
design defined:
Minimal amounts of bold color and a neutral pattern work great with a CAS design.

Ardyth
design defined:
Keep your focal area to 1/3 of the card to preserve white space for a clean design!

Deidre
design defined:
Masking and sponging a background can showcase your design.

Hannelie
design defined:
An interesting background can be CAS as long as you leave enough white space.

Hazel
design defined:
'White space' doesn't have to be white!

Jacquie
design defined:
An embossing folder adds great texture & interest while preserving white space.

Jen
design defined:
A simple sentiment and a strong corresponding image make for a good CAS design.

Joyce

 design defined:
Add subtle pattern to your background with patterned vellum.

Judy
design defined:
Punches, dies, and patterned paper can still be CAS when combined on your card.

Kymona
design defined:
Designing the top and bottom of your card, creates a CAS design.

Sherrie
 design defined:
Keep a busy pattern and multiple colors to a confined area to preserve white space.

Tracey
design defined:
Keep the majority of your card one layer in CAS design.

Go have fun creating your CAS design and don't forget to link up here on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CDT)!
