Featured Designer: Janet Ribet

It's time to introduce our October Featured Designer!  Please welcome Janet Ribet into the spotlight this month!  She's been a faithful participant in the CASology challenges and her clean & simple design is beautiful!

Greetings from my little happy crafting space on the very small island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It doesn’t take long to get there in Blogland … come over to Swanlady Impressions to get a sprinkle of my creative world and beautiful corner of the earth.
I’m a Zimbabwean Born, South African raised, Mauritian settled, enthusiast of all things paper, ink, stamps etc. I started stamping 22 years ago and added scrapping in 2001, but I also enjoy crochet, decoupage, sewing, baking, reading, Bible & bullet journaling, handwriting and watercoloring.  I love creating and want to do it all but there are just not enough hours in the day! Playing in card challenges, and following the many talented craft bloggers out there has helped me discover and develop my place & style. I love using colour when I create -  especially blues, greens and rainbows.  I find that I am gravitating towards CAS more and more but I as I can’t resist playing with techniques it can be a challenge.
As there weren’t any stamping or scrapbooking shops in Mauritius back in the day, I started bringing back supplies each time I went to South Africa. My hobby grew in fits and starts from my dining room table, to having too many boxes of supplies, to carving out my own craft space and now I have a tiny shop and small studio at home. I give a stamping class every Thursday and do scrapping classes and projects as the mojo flows.
This card fits in with this week’s challenge SUPPORT, and October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I especially dedicate it to my friends who have faced breast cancer and fought the good fight (Fi, Christine & Margaret).

Thank you Melissa and the design team for having me over the next 4 weeks.

Head on over to Janet's blog and give her some blog love!

Week 218: SUPPORT

It's time for a new cue word and we're pretty sure this week's gallery is going to support our CAS design addiction!  On a more serious note, however, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we'd like to send out a little love and support to those whose lives have been touched by this disease is some way!

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:

  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

We're introducing a brand new sponsor again this week!  Please welcome A Jillian Vance Design!

A Jillian Vance Design was started by Jillian Vance in 2010 at the age of 10 years old.  A very creative young lady, she decided to start a card business and sell them at her mom’s salon.  Then after needing sentiments that she couldn’t find anywhere, she decided to fill the niche in the clear stamp market she felt was missing ~ “There are a lot of cute stamps out there, but it is nearly impossible to find sentiments for the inside of cards, especially Christian ones .”    So several of her sets have a reference to God who she loves deeply.

In addition to designing cards, trendy stamps and dies which are made in the USA, Jillian, is a high school senior honor student and also attends Mount Vernon Nazarene University majoring in Graphic Design.  She loves to sing, play her Taylor Guitars, dance and perform in  local theater productions.  She lives at home with her parents and three beloved dogs, Angus, her Yorkie Poo, Izzy and Mo both Yorkies who were rescues and are perfect angels!

This week's winner will receive a $20 gift card to the online store!

Let's take a look at what the design team and this week's guest designer created for inspiration!
