Week 230: COLD

It's time for the first challenge of 2017!  Being January and the middle of winter for many in the world, we thought this cue word might be fitting.  Of course, if you're in the middle of some warmer season, maybe this will remind you of a cold drink!

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:

  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

Rubber Dance Stamps is returning as our wonderful sponsor and this week's winner will receive the Frosty Friends stamp set!

Let's take a look at what the design team and this week's guest designer created for inspiration!

Guest Designer:  Wendy

Limited layers, a simple colour scheme & lots of white space help keep a design CAS.

Deidre

Selective coloring and lots of white space keep a card CAS!

design defined:
Faux embossing adds interest and preserves white space.

Jacquie
design defined:
Masking allows you to layer images and keep to the one third rule for a CAS design.

Janet
design defined:
You can use patterned paper in small amounts and still keep it CAS; and keeping to one third of the card is a good rule to follow.

Jen
design defined:
Patterned paper in small doses adds interest to CAS designs.

Joyce
design defined:
Adding just a few pops of color can spice up a mostly white CAS design.

Judy
design defined:
Masking and inking around an embossed frame adds dimension to a one-layer card.

Kymona
design defined:
Basic coloring keeps your card CAS!!

Melissa
 design defined:
Monochromatic color schemes work well in CAS design.

Rachel
design defined:
You can create a fun winter background and still keep it clean and simple by using white on white.

Sherrie
design defined:
Embossing paste adds subtle texture to a CAS card.

Go have fun creating your CAS design and don't forget to link up here on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST)!
