Design defined: Use an impression plate to add subtle texture to your card base while maintaining the focus on the main image.
Design defined: A simple strip of decorative paper adds interest to an otherwise plain card.

Week #11: WHITE
This week, we're going to work with something that many CAS cards tend to have on them...
There really is a beauty to white, so let's see what we can do with it!

White with white space can be a challenge, but small pops of color will draw your eye to the main image.
For an all-white card, add interest by popping up a layer and using lots of sparkle!
Don't be afraid to play with white. A little texture and simple embellishments add a lot!

I love how Jenny manages to include so many lovely details while still
keeping her card CAS. The paper piecing, highlighting, and scoring add
so much interest and I always love a punny sentiment!

Week #10: SKY
It's time to look up! To the SKY, that is! This week, let your thoughts take you up and away! This one just might have you staring, dreamy-eyed off into space! The sky's the limit!
Let's see what the design team has created for inspiration!
This week, Meghan (last week's winner) is joining us as our guest designer!
Guest Designer: Meghan
design defined:
A single, long focal point draws the eye. White space is an important part of a clean and simple card.
A large die cut can stand alone on a CAS card. It
doesn't need to be hidden underneath layers to make a big statement.

Simple elements grouped together help keep your design clean and uncluttered.

Week #9: FAMILY
It seems like once September arrives, thoughts begin turning tentatively toward the year-end holidays and the extra time many of us are given to spend with family and friends. For some, this coming Sunday is Grandparents' Day and what a wonderful thing it is to take some of our precious time and send just a little love to a grandparent or someone we consider to be just like one! This week, we're going to think about FAMILY!
You're all quickly becoming family to us here at CASology and we're so thankful for your support!

Debbie, last week's winner, is joining us as our guest designer!

A visual triangle, formed by the focal image and the sentiment/candy dots provides balance. The common color palette, repeated in the image, DSP and candy dots adds a pleasing cohesiveness to the design.
Rosemary
design defined:
The smaller focal point on the card works by using a softer color for the block of color and a brighter color for the onesie.

By choosing a card base that co-ordinates or compliments the focal panel, it allows the card to have breathing room. Debossing the focal panel adds interest without overtaking the design.

A white card base can help ensure there is enough breathing space around a large image with bold colours.

The orange gems tie the sentiment to the image and keep it from just floating in space.

Embellishments definitely have a place on CAS cards as long as they are simple and carefully placed.
