Week 186: DISTRESS

It's time for a new cue!  Whether you start thinking about a technique, an emotion or something entirely out of the box, we're curious to see where this word takes you!

Lawn Fawn

Lawn Fawn is returning to sponsor us this week and is generously offering this week's winner their choice of a stamp set and 6x6 pad!  Have you seen their new release yet?!  Talk about impressive!  Are you in need of some new spring stamps, adorable creatures, sentiments, dies, papers or inks?  They've got you covered!

Did you know Lawn Fawn has their very own Flickr group where you can share your Lawn Fawn creations and join in their discussion?

Let's take a look at what the design team and this week's guest designer created for inspiration!

Guest Designer:  Annie
 design defined:
Minimal layers, lots of white space & simple embellishments = CAS.

design defined:
If you have lots of white space, you can still use colour and texture in your CAS design!

design defined:
Ground an image to one corner and the white space creates a CAS card.

Limited edition jeans card
design defined:
Distressing adds instant texture to your design.

design defined:
Sometimes 'white space' IS the feature of a CAS card.

design defined:
Bright, bold colors create a strong focal point for a CAS design.

Jen
design defined:
Surrounding a distressed panel with lots of white space keeps things CAS.

Joyce
design defined:
A light wash or sponge of color can add definition and emphasis to your focal point.

design defined:
Distress inks provide a nice background in small areas of a CAS card.

design defined:
Using a non-crafting item creates a CAS card.

 design defined:
Add a little dimension by simply popping up your main panel.

design defined:
Ink blending and distress inks can be CAS when color is limited to one side.

Tracey
design defined:
White space does not have to be white.

Go have fun creating your CAS design and don't forget to link up here on the challenge blog by Monday at NOON (CST)!

  6. Amazing DT examples. Hope it's ok to join in with my "frugal" crafted card...not as CAS as I would have liked but I found your distressed challenge a useful addition to my project!!
